It’s an uncommonly quiet week in TV Foodland. I’m going to go ahead and chalk that up to the oppressive heat, which has everybody looking for an excuse not to cook. Just a few Crumbs this week…- I love reading small-town newspaper stories about local people and places appearing on Food Network. Here is a story that will put your mind at ease about the brain sandwich that appears in next week’s “Feasting on Asphalt.” At least Alton’s not going to tell us how delicious it is.
- Lidia Bastianich made an appearance in San Antonio, a town which “gives her show extremely strong ratings.”
- Penguin will be publishing a new book from Jamie Oliver during the second half of the year.
- Mario Batali will be on the judging panel of an heirloom bean cook-off in San Francisco. Like I said, it’s been a slow week.
